A teaching and leadership career spanning the UK, Egypt, Vietnam, China, and Malaysia has shaped Joshua's clear conviction: education has to be interpreted within context, not simply transferred between systems.

Alongside school leadership, Joshua is an EdD candidate at the University of Bath, where his research examines how leadership is interpreted and enacted in culturally complex international schools. That work has developed into Culturally Mediated Leadership (CML) — a framework for understanding how leadership coherence is built across cultural and institutional boundaries.

CML was presented at the 44th COBIS Annual Conference in London (May 2026), where it drew the attention of Tes senior reporter Emma Seith, who attended the session and later interviewed Joshua for a dedicated feature on the framework (June 2026), with further coverage in FOBISIA, LYIS, and TIE. Joshua also speaks regularly on life in international education and school leadership through The Common Room, his podcast for educators, staff, and partners across the sector, featuring guests such as Dr Howard Stribbell, Greg Parry, Jennifer Abrams, and Gavin McCormack.
